MINISTERS' WIVES FELLOWSHIP I. PURPOSE: A. To provide fellowship, support, and training for ministers' wives. B. To enable ministers' wives to explore, define and better understand their role today. C. To strengthen the skills of each minister's wife to fill her role in the home, church and community. D. To emphasize the partnership of ministers' wives in ministry with their husbands. II. MEMBERSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITY: A. Membership will include wives of all ordained and licensed ministers, women ministers, wives of ministerial candidates, and widows of ministers. B. All wives of ministers are automatically members of the Fellowship. C. The responsibility of each member is to provide support and friendship to her colleagues in the unique ministry of ministers' wives. III. ORGANIZATION: A. General: 1. The general director of MWF shall be the wife of the general superintendent. 2. The general director will appoint at least four MWF board members, two of who shall be the wife of a General Executive Board member, one shall be the wife of a pastor, and one shall be a conference director. The board will be approved by the GEB. 3. The general board may elect a secretary from its members. B. Conference: 1. The conference director of MWF shall be the wife of the conference superintendent or his appointee. 2. The conference director may appoint two or four MWF board members, to be approved by the conference board. 3. The conference board may elect a secretary from its members. 4. The conference director will represent the conference at general meeting of MWF directors and/or LIFT Retreats. C. District: 1. The conference MWF board may appoint district directors to promote and coordinate events on the district or regional level. 2. The conference MWF board may designate the wife of the evangelism or district director to serve as district MWF director. IV. MINISTRY AND FUNCTION: A. General: 1. The MWF director will endeavor to plan and event for the ministers' wives during general ministerial events, i.e. General Convention, National Pastors' Conference, etc. 2. Where possible, she will travel with the general superintendent to conferences where there is a meeting of the ministers' wives. 3. She will keep conference directors informed through regular correspondence. 4. She will facilitate meetings with conference directors for fellowship and training. 5. She will elicit the MWF page in the Helping Hand. B. Conference: 1. The conference director will plan at least one ministers' wives fellowship meeting each year. 2. Where there is a conference ministerial event, the MWF director will endeavor to plan an event for the ministers' wives. 3. Where there is a conference leadership function, such as a retreat or training event, the ministers' wives should be included in the training. 4. The conference director should work with conference leadership in planning and promoting the Ministers and Wives Retreat. 5. The conference is encouraged to provide a space for MWF in the conference publication. C. A mutual relationship of promotion and networking shall be maintained between the MWF and Women's Ministries boards. The MWF general and conference directors shall furnish the names of their board members to the general and conference Women's Ministries boards, respectively. V. FUNDING: A. General: 1. The general MWF shall be funded by the general superintendent's office through and allocation from the Planning and Budgetary Committee. 2. The general director shall present an annual budget to the general superintendent to be presented to the PBC. B. Conference: 1. The conference superintendent is encouraged to include in his annual budget an allocation for the conference MWF. 2. The conference director shall present an annual budget to the conference superintendent. |
